Legend has it that in most parts of the Buddhist Himalayas there exists ‘Be-Yuls’or hidden paradise, where devotees can seek refuge in threatening times, sheltered and protected.  Bumthang valley is one such extraordinary place on earth, with natural beauty matched by its cultural purity, a cultural purity that is rarely found anywhere else in the world.  The tour begins at Paro valley, known for its transparent purity of the air and the absence of noise, home to many of Bhutan’s oldest temples, to the modernizing capital of Thimphu where one can see artisans, continuing to use age-old techniques to produce some of the finest traditional arts and crafts; we continue through the ancestral home of the Wangchuk Dynasty, Trongsa and further to Bumthang, the cultural hub of Bhutan, where the whole landscape is dotted with monasteries, temples and legend about the kings and serpents. We will visits some of the most venerable Bhutanese monasteries, secular architectures, typical village houses where people carry on their ancestral cultures and traditions.

Day 01  By KB Flight  : BKK/SIN/CCU/KTM/DEL – PBH. Transfer to hotel. PM visit Paro Bazar. Alt. 2200m. Overnight stay in Olathang or Namsey or equivalent.

Day 02  FULL DAY TOUR: AM hike to Taktshang monastery( round trip take 5-6 hrs). After lunch at the cafeteria, return to Paro and visit Kyichu temple and Paro Dzong. PM drive for one hour to Thimphu. Overnight stay in Riverview or equivalent.

Day 03  THIMPHU:  AM  visit the grand Buddha statue, Memorial Chorten and Changangkha temple. After lunch, visit textile museum and free time visit handicraft shops.  In the evening after office hours, visit Tashichhodzong. (day time visits allowed only during weekends and Gov.  holidays). Distance – 55 kms/1 hr.  drive. Alt. 2300m.

Day 04  THIMPHU – TRONGSA : AM drive to Dochula pass and descend to Wangduephordang valley. Thereafter drive to Trongsa. PM visit Trongsa Dzong. Distance : 200 kms/ 8 hrs. drive. Alt. 2200 meters. Overnight stay at Yangkhil or Tashi Ninjey.

Day 05  TRONGSA – JAKAR (BUMTHANG) : AM visit Tadzong watch tower converted to museum. Thereafter drive to Bumthang. After lunch, visit some of the oldest temples of Bhutan including Jambey, Kurjey, Tamshing.  Distance – 68 kms/2.5 hrs drive. Alt. of Jakar – 2650m. Overnight stay in Wangdicholing resort or Gongkhar or equivalent.

Day 06  JAKAR FD TOUR : AM drive to Tang valley and take short hike to UgenChholing palace (private) and visit the museum there. After lunch, return to Jakar with visit to the sacred Membertsho (river in a deep gorge). Dzong.

Day 07  JAKAR-WANGDUEPHORDANG : AM  drive to Wangduephordang/Punakha with visits to Gantey monastery in Phobjikha valley enroute. 198 kms/ 7-8 hrs drive. Overnight stay in Zangtopelri or Dragon nest or equivalent.

Day 08  WANGDUEPHORDANG/PUNAKHA – PARO AM visit Punakha dzong (old capital) followed by short walk north of the dzong and cross the hanging bridge and visit a community school. Then, drive to Paro with lunch enroute ( picnic can also be arranged). Distance – 125kms/3.5 hrs. drive. Overnight stay in Olathang or Namsey or equivalent.

Day 09 By KB flight PBH : BKK/SIN/CCU/DEL/KTM After breakfast drive to airport for departure.   The above sketch outlines are only intended to give you an idea of where we trek and camp; for detailed information, please feel free to write or visit us.
